ARKAS has introduced two mobile cranes into service at the Port of Izmir. The new cranes, which were purchased with ARKAS funds for 5 million US dollars, will increase the capacity of the Port by 40%.
The cranes in service at the Port of Izmir, most of which are old, proved unable to meet existing demand. In order to solve this problem ARKAS signed a protocol agreement with TCDD (The General Directorate of Turkish State Railways Ports Department) in March of this year. The cranes, which were purchased by ARKAS as per the agreement, went into service at the Port of Izmir in June.
